Christchurch

Tuesday 22nd was like any other day. I was just finishing getting dressed when my partner came in to inform me that Christchurch have had a 6.3 earthquake. I immediately rang my mum and thankfully she was okay but she sounded very distraught. She was at home when it struck and managed to avoid a cupboard falling on her.

I was in tears for most of the day. Watching the live footage on t.v I just couldn't believe the devastation that my beloved home town had become and the casualties kept rising. Most of my family live in Christchurch and throughout the day heard word of their safety.

As of today there are 113 dead and many more still missing. My heart goes out to the families who have lost loved ones. So very sad.

Pirates on the brain

I have been very busy sewing away this past week. I had so many ideas running around in my head for a variety of characters for my plush nesting dolls. I have this wonderful pirate themed fabric that I bought ages ago and I hadn't really made good use of it yet. Then I came up with the idea of my pirate nesting dolls. Very cute indeed.

Little Red Riding Hood was next on the agenda. The big bad wolf, grandma and of course little red. They were really fun to make. I will have trouble parting with these dolls when they go thats for sure!

Last week I popped out to buy some more eyes for my dolls as I had complety run out in the middle of a sewing session! Oh noes! And of course I couldn't help myself, I could feel myself been drawn in to the fabric section! I spotted two gorgeous prints that I just had to buy! And I have made two little darling nesting dolls that are ever so sweet. I even made a change to their eyes to make them look a little more real and I am in love! I want to keep them all to myself. Heh but I will be putting them up in my shop in the next couple of days.

I hope you all are having a good start to the week. We had a big thunderstorm last night and the power was off for a couple of hours. We made a little picnic out on the balconey watching the lightening and watching Flash Gordon on the laptop while munching on chips and drink. Was good fun.

Until next time

I'm Back

Dear oh dear I have been very slack in posting to this blog. I seem to have been swept up on my facebook fan page and the fact I have had no time. But I shouldn't really be making excuses.
I am here now and will try my very hardest to post here more often.

First things first I had my first sale on etsy the other day!! I was so excited. I was browsing through etsy one morning in bed and omg my nesting doll had been sold. So she is on her way to Western Australia.

I sometimes find it hard to let go of my softies. I love them all so very much and want to keep them for myself. But I would run out of room very fast if I did that!

We have had some very dear friends of ours stay with us from New Zealand the past week. We have been doing all the tourist activities which has been so much fun and tiring! Dreamworld, Seaworld, Day Cruises, Jet skiing, Para sailing just to name a few. In fact most of the activities we did involved water some way or another. I loved Seaworld! The polar bears were up and about having some yummy raw fish and watermelon in the water. I could watch them all day!

I decided to participate in the worlds greatest shave on the 12th of March. I am actually really looking forward to shaving my locks off! I might look a little funny but hey it's just hair and it will grow back :) Here is a link to my page if you would like to donate and support the Leukaemia Foundation http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/personalPage.aspx?registrationID=372428

Until next time
