Blog posts are few and far between due to being busy sewing up zombie pirates for custom orders. It is a good doll to be making since Halloween is 4 days away.

My Creative Space

This week has been busy with making pirates. These three are now enjoying their new home and after I finish writing this post I will be making another 2 for a custom order :)

This sweet horse I whipped up yesterday for a birthday present for a horse mad girl. First attempt at making a horse like this and she turned out pretty cute.

I have so many ideas running around in my noggin at the moment that I want to sew up. So excited.

Starting from today I am going to post inspirational photos, quotes etc on Mondays to help us remind ourselves that it's the simple things in life that count and to feel better about yourself to carry through with you for the rest of the week.

Happy Monday everyone

Sneak peek

I would like to show you a sneak peek at a new doll I am designing. So far she is coming together nicely. Still need to tweak a few things but she should be finished soon.

I have also been busy making pirates. I showed my two pirates that I had made a year ago to the girls at work and the orders came pouring in. I made this fellow for the lovely Sarah and I'm happy she loves him.

So hopefully today I will get stuck in and make three more cheeky pirates. Although it's going to be hard to stay inside on this beautiful hot spring day we are currently having on the Gold Coast.

Ragga muffin

Morning all! I am up bright and early on this beautiful Saturday morning. I wanted to share with you my little Ragga Muffin doll I made for my mother on her birthday last weekend. She was such a delight to make, I especially love her wee shoes! *squee* She is from the pattern by Gingermelon I bought a while ago. My mother loves her as much as I do and I'm thinking I will make her a little friend for Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas! My gosh I swear the Christmas decorations come out earlier and earlier. I first noticed them at the beginning of September. How crazy is that! But it's got me thinking about making some felt ornaments for my Christmas tree this year :) They probably wont go with my star wars ones but meh I love those ones too!!

Sophie's doll

Just a quick hello. This past week I have been battling the flu. I have never felt so sick in years. But pleased to say I am now on the mend and should be back to my normal weird self soon.

I made my little niece a doll the other day. I tried a little something new with her lips which I think turned out rather well. I will be posting her off to Sydney. I hope she likes her :)

I have had a whole lot of ideas running around in my head which I should write down! but I can't wait to start bringing them to life. Stay tuned.

The week thats been

Hello friends!
The past week was pretty awesome because I got to spend time with my sister who was visiting from New Zealand. Even though she got food poisoning the day after she arrived then when she recovered from that she was struck down with the flu. Dear oh dear!! And now my boy has got man flu so I will be looking after him for the next couple of days. I am not sick......yet *touch wood*

So not much crafting has been going on recently. But I will show you my little naked raggedy doll I am making. I just need to make some little clothes for her. But she is ever so sweet already.

My sister and I went for a hunt for writing sets as a gift for her friend and we could not find them ANYWHERE! We love writing letters because it's more personal than email and it is exciting to check the letter box to find a pretty envelope addressed to you (plus my sister likes to put confetti in them so when I open it, it goes everywhere!) So in the end I decided to make my own. It came out pretty good so I will probably be making more in the near future :)

You have mail

I picked my sister up from the airport last night. You wouldn't believe how much I have missed her and it's only been like 5 weeks since she left!! We are going to get up to lots of mischief in the few days she is here.
So it was her birthday on Monday and finally she was able to open her present from me. I designed and made a fabric mail/letter set folder. Thankfully she absolutely loves it. We write to each other every week so I know she will get good use out of it.

My other sister Tanya a few months back won some postcards from the very talented Wonderforest. I was so happy that she had won because I know how gorgeous they would look in her baby girls room. But she also gave me one in a pretty pink frame!!! I haven't decided where I'm going to put it yet but I will probably hang it up in my sewing room. So thank you Tanya, you are the best! xxx

Olive

About two weeks ago Gingermelon had a giveaway for her lovely paper dolls and I was a lucky winner. I was so excited because her dolls are just gorgeous and I have never won a giveaway before. So today I printed and cut out my Olive doll and she is now hanging on my wall next to my monitor

Weekend musings

Hi all! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Ours has been rather lazy and relaxing. Slept in till 11am on Saturday which for me is a feat in itself as most mornings you will find me up round 6-7am no matter what day it is.

My sister is arriving for a fleeting visit this Thursday for a couple of days!! I am looking forward seeing her again. I just hope her flight doesn't get cancelled from the ash cloud. It is her birthday tomorrow and I have made a special something for her which I will post about later after she has recieved it!! Exciting

I will leave you now with this sweet music video I found.

Crochet update

I haven't spent as much time as I would like to learn crochet this week but last night I sat down for how long I don't know and tried to do some basic stitches. I found a book at the library which teaches you the basics with pictures and instructions. I kinda got the hang of it but I was losing stitches and it just didn't look right. So I jumped on good old Youtube and searched for tutorials. I found a couple that have been really useful. I now know that I am more a visual/hands on see it in action learner than just reading instructions from a book.

So this here is the start of my granny square. I will have to start again because I feel it's too small and tight but it is starting to resemble some form of crochet instead of a knotted mess! Practice makes perfect.

So here are some links I found to be useful:

Hook and needles: Very clear and helpful videos. Not too fast and very clear.

Crochet geek: A series of video tutorials going through all the basic stitches for beginners

My weekend in pictures

We had a lovely weekend going on little road trips. Saturday we ventured to Tweed and surrounding areas. Went for little walks by the ocean and eating in at random restaurants. Sunday we drove up to O'Reilly's. We went for a trek to the Moran falls and found the most gorgeous view of the hinterland. My legs are paying for it today but it was totally worth it.
