My Creative Space
This week has been busy with making pirates. These three are now enjoying their new home and after I finish writing this post I will be making another 2 for a custom order :)
This sweet horse I whipped up yesterday for a birthday present for a horse mad girl. First attempt at making a horse like this and she turned out pretty cute.
I have so many ideas running around in my noggin at the moment that I want to sew up. So excited.

Sneak peek

I would like to show you a sneak peek at a new doll I am designing. So far she is coming together nicely. Still need to tweak a few things but she should be finished soon.
I have also been busy making pirates. I showed my two pirates that I had made a year ago to the girls at work and the orders came pouring in. I made this fellow for the lovely Sarah and I'm happy she loves him.

So hopefully today I will get stuck in and make three more cheeky pirates. Although it's going to be hard to stay inside on this beautiful hot spring day we are currently having on the Gold Coast.

Ragga muffin

Morning all! I am up bright and early on this beautiful Saturday morning. I wanted to share with you my little Ragga Muffin doll I made for my mother on her birthday last weekend. She was such a delight to make, I especially love her wee shoes! *squee* She is from the pattern by Gingermelon I bought a while ago. My mother loves her as much as I do and I'm thinking I will make her a little friend for Christmas.
Speaking of Christmas! My gosh I swear the Christmas decorations come out earlier and earlier. I first noticed them at the beginning of September. How crazy is that! But it's got me thinking about making some felt ornaments for my Christmas tree this year :) They probably wont go with my star wars ones but meh I love those ones too!!

Sophie's doll
Just a quick hello. This past week I have been battling the flu. I have never felt so sick in years. But pleased to say I am now on the mend and should be back to my normal weird self soon.
I made my little niece a doll the other day. I tried a little something new with her lips which I think turned out rather well. I will be posting her off to Sydney. I hope she likes her :)

I have had a whole lot of ideas running around in my head which I should write down! but I can't wait to start bringing them to life. Stay tuned.

The week thats been
Hello friends!
The past week was pretty awesome because I got to spend time with my sister who was visiting from New Zealand. Even though she got food poisoning the day after she arrived then when she recovered from that she was struck down with the flu. Dear oh dear!! And now my boy has got man flu so I will be looking after him for the next couple of days. I am not sick......yet *touch wood*
So not much crafting has been going on recently. But I will show you my little naked raggedy doll I am making. I just need to make some little clothes for her. But she is ever so sweet already.

My sister and I went for a hunt for writing sets as a gift for her friend and we could not find them ANYWHERE! We love writing letters because it's more personal than email and it is exciting to check the letter box to find a pretty envelope addressed to you (plus my sister likes to put confetti in them so when I open it, it goes everywhere!) So in the end I decided to make my own. It came out pretty good so I will probably be making more in the near future :)

Mail Love
Today has been a wonderful day for mail! To make up for the dreary rainy morning we are having I found a nice suprise waiting for me in my letter box. First up was my new sweet doll all the way from Italy from Chromantication. I can not say enough how much I adore her. She is perfect in every way, so beautifully made.
The other parcel I recieved was from The Black Apple!! Last year I bought this print and I just love her work so I bought another one and got a free smaller print with it. I can't wait to find frames for them to hang them up.
Oh and I guess I should mention my home and garden magazine arrived in the mail too! I know what I will be doing tonight. So for now it's back to making more pouches. I sold my first Strawberry Shortcake one last week which is heading it's way to America and I decided to make a whole variety to put up in my shop. They are so cute.

I am open for business!!
Hey folks. Sorry its been a bit quiet round here. I have been busy working and settling in to my new job. What was going to be casual/part-time has kinda turned into full-time Whew! So I am usually sleeping or working with little bits of sewing in between when I can.
I have finally opened my Etsy shop!! I am so excited and a little bit nervous. At the moment I have this feeling that my dolls aren't perfect, I could do better and thinking no body will want to buy them etc. But hey I'm just going to roll with the punches and just see how things go! I love making them and I want to be be able to let other people enjoy my creations as much as I love them. SOOOO first up is my pirate dolls! Gunpowder Pete and Squid Lips Sid! hehe
Last week I got my hands on a pattern created by Gingermelon Dolls. He is a tiny little bear who has stolen my heart! I cannot get over the cuteness! I will be making a whole lot more in the coming weeks. I'm calling them Pocket Friends cos they fit nicely in your pocket to join you on your adventures as friends do :)

So head on over to my Etsy shop and check it out here. Tell your friends too :) Keep on eye out for more softies and cuteness and fun arriving soon. I am on my way out to pick up more supplies soon. Today is a gloomy rainy day ( it has been for weeks now!) but it is perfect to stay inside creating magic :)

Vampire Doll

I had a request to make a vampire doll for Laura, a friend of my sisters. She is a hard core Twilight fan and it would be awesome for her to have her very own 'Edward' doll. So this here is my version of Edward complete with blood dripping fangs (so awesome!) lace and a bow tie. It was very hard to part with this little fellow but I knew he would be loved at Laura's home. And he was all ready in time for All Hallows Eve Ooo.oo.

Cute as a button

All of last week I had no computer to play on/waste time on! So I was head down sewing like a mad woman. It was great! Now that it's working again I'm back to sitting in front of the computer playing mindless Facebook games. I'm going to have to do something about that!
Anyways I made a gorgeous little doll that I am so in love with. She is cute as a button and I'm so happy with how she turned out. She's going to be all mine but I will definitely be making more.

Sewing Machine
Good afternoon! I am a happy panda because I now have my very own sewing machine. My family pitched in and got it for me as an early birthday present. I set up my old desk which I hadn’t got round to selling yet (and I’m glad I didn’t!) It is a perfect size for my machine/work station. I have yet to book in for my free lesson from the store I bought it at to show me how to use it but so far I am doing ok with it and have already made two new softies.

This here is It. He was suppose to be a dog but I don’t think he looks like one! hehe. Here he is showing off my sewing machine

Say hello to Hoots the owl. I whipped her up yesterday morning in secret as a surprise gift for my mother to take back to New Zealand with her. Owls are so easy to make that I’m sure to make more. She is a wee darling.

Today is a cold and rainy day, perfect for staying inside listening to music while whipping up some more creations.

Meet Molly
Wow it’s been almost two weeks since I last updated! But I have a good excuse My mum is over here visiting from New Zealand for a holiday and to spend some time with us kids. It has been nice to have her here as I haven’t seen her in over a year when she was over last. She has been hitting it up big at all the crafty stores on the Gold Coast and going to the Scrapbooking Craft show in Brisbane last weekend. She makes the most wonderful cards, I shall post some up one day to show you lovely readers how talented she is.
Anyways I have been working on a doll, trying out new things like wool for hair and having a go at making my first little dress for her. She is a wee darling and I’m quite proud of her heh

Retro Monkey
Another finish. Another cute softie to add to my growing pile of toys staring at me while I sit here typing hehe. This monkey is from the book Softies, (man I love the library!) Mabel Monkey from prairiemouse.typepad.com. Although I have called mine Marco and my boyfriend reckons he is from the 70′s due to the colours I used to make him. I love him!!

He has been up to lots of mischief, swinging from my pot plants and playing peek-a-boo.

Bunnykins

So I finally plunged ahead and decided to design my own little soft toy. He turned out to be a bunny with long floppy ears and movable arms and legs. He didn't turn out too badly although I reckon he looks a bit like a dog. He is cute none the less. I am going to make some clothes for him too since he is looking a bit naked and will add some personality.

Meet Emily

Finished my second doll last night. She is going to be a mother's day gift to my mum so I hope she likes her. She is all pretty in pink and she has safety eyes. My mum lives in New Zealand so Emily will be flying out there on Sunday with my sister as she is heading over there for a holiday anyways. And of course I am jealous! I might have to stow away in her suitcase.

Hello and Welcome

I wanted to start a blog on my new hobby of making softies. I have never tried it before until I came across this wonderful site The Black Apple. I decided to make one of her dolls that featured on the Martha Stewart show. She turned out pretty good for my first try. And she is all hand stitched due to not having a sewing machine and my mother lives too far away to use hers! I am currently making another doll to give to my mother on Mother's Day, which is only a week away so I had better get cracking!
