Crochet update

I haven't spent as much time as I would like to learn crochet this week but last night I sat down for how long I don't know and tried to do some basic stitches. I found a book at the library which teaches you the basics with pictures and instructions. I kinda got the hang of it but I was losing stitches and it just didn't look right. So I jumped on good old Youtube and searched for tutorials. I found a couple that have been really useful. I now know that I am more a visual/hands on see it in action learner than just reading instructions from a book.

So this here is the start of my granny square. I will have to start again because I feel it's too small and tight but it is starting to resemble some form of crochet instead of a knotted mess! Practice makes perfect.

So here are some links I found to be useful:

Crochet

Last year I bought this magazine called The Art of Crochet. It came with instructions for beginners, a dvd and a hook with wool! I thought this will be easy. Little did I know how tangled and knotted I would get. I got very frustrated and eventually put the whole lot in the cupboard and forgot about it.

The past couple of weeks I have been inspired to try again. There are so many wonderful projects you can make with crochet and I want to be able to make them as well! Here are some gorgeous finds from Etsy:

Green Cotton Crochet Cap

Crochet Flower Headband

Little Button Pouch

Crochet Ombre Bracelet

Apple Cozy

So I will be trying to crochet something that resembles a square to start off with and hope it doesn't turn into a big mess. If anyone has any useful links for beginners or some easy patterns please share. Or maybe something you have crochet yourself. I would love to see your creations.
